ROGUE VS EXCEL ESPORTS LEC SPRING SPLIT BETTING PREVIEW

Week 6 of the League of Legends European Championship (LEC) will kick off with a clash between Rogue and Excel Esports, who met during the first week of the split.

Rogue have been sitting in the middle of the LEC table for most of the season, however, things are looking up for Emil “Larssen” Larsson and his crew, who are entering the sixth week of the competition following a 3-1 run and 6-4 record next to their name.

Looking back at Week 4, Rogue bested both Schalke 04 and SK Gaming to secure their second perfect week of the split. Although they failed to translate the momentum into their opening match of Week 5, when they lost to Fnatic, Larssen’s team shock everyone on the final day of the competitive week, when they snapped Misfits’ seven-game win streak.

In regards to their clash with Misfits, Rogue had a slow start, but managed to overcome their difficulties and came out ahead with a remarkable display. Larssen and Steven “Hans Sama” Liv were both phenomenal, ending the bout with 4/1/10 and 9/1/3 record respectively, further establishing themselves as top talents in their respective roles. Another player who deserves all the praise he can get is Finn “Finn” Wiestål, who had another great performance in the top lane and is slowly solidifying himself as one of the top talents in the region.

Rogue are an excellent team when it comes to their lane power, however, tend to struggle when trying to close out the games. On the upside, this is a minor issue, which can easily be fixed with the help of their coach.

Excel are entering the sixth week of LEC Spring Split with a 5-5 record next to their name, which puts them one win behind both MAD Lions and Rogue, and three wins above Schalke 04, who sit at the eighth place on the standings.

So far, Excel failed to achieve anything noteworthy, and come off as a mediocre team at most. That said, they tend to have their moments of greatness and can sometimes be hard to beat. What’s more, Excel are a well-coached team, which is expected, considering they have the former Fnatic head coach Joey “YoungBuck” Steltenpool at the helm. The six-star general brought a lot of quality to the team since he arrived and while Excel are by no means one of the top contenders for Spring Split title, they have vastly improved compared to last season.

Son “Mickey” Young-min and Patrik “Patrik” Jírů are two standout players in this team, not because they’re the top players in their respective roles, but rather because they managed to exceed the expectations put on them before the split. Mickey managed to work on and improve his inconsistency issues from 2019, while Patrik proved he can go toe-to-toe with the best ADCs in the league.

Excel’s biggest problem, however, is their unpredictability. They can look great one day, only to disappoint the next and a lot of that comes from their mid laner Mickey, who, as said, has improved in that regard, yet still has his moments of instability.

ROGUE VS EXCEL ESPORTS LEC SPRING SPLIT BETTING PREDICTIONS

It will be an exciting fixture between two mid-table teams, but when it comes to calling out a winner, it’s hard to bet against Rogue.

Both sides hold onto a similar record, but there is still a clear gap between the two. While it would not be fair to rank Excel as low as Schalke 04, SK Gaming and Vitality, saying they are up to par with the likes of MAD Lions and Rogue would be a bit of an overstatement.

Excel put up some great performances so far this split and if Mickey can deliver, Excel might be capable of an upset win, however, Rogue have definitely looked better and more consistent. Would Rogue get stomped by Misfits last week, we would see this one as a close match, but with the quality they have shown, defeating Excel should be a walk in the park for them.

Finn, Hans Sama and Larssen are all playing extremely well and if they can translate the momentum from last week into this match, Rogue should come out ahead with at least six kills to spare.
