Psyonix has unveiled exciting changes for the 2025 Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS), with a massive $5,000,000 prize pool and format updates aimed at enhancing both competition and fan engagement.

The 2025 season introduces a brand-new 1v1 series, running alongside the traditional 3v3 format, offering individual players a chance to showcase their talents on the global RLCS stage.

Photo: Rocket League Esports

New 1v1 Series Format

The 1v1 competition will be divided across the first two splits of the season:

Split 1: Open qualifiers will take place in Europe, South America (SAM), and Asia-Pacific (APAC). Top players will compete for cash prizes, and the winners from Europe and SAM will face off at the first Majors 1v1 final.

Split 2: North America, Middle East & North Africa (MENA), Oceania (OCE), and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) will host their qualifiers, with the top players progressing to the second Majors 1v1 final.

The winners from these Majors will then battle in a 1v1 showdown at the 2025 World Championship, creating a new dimension of individual competition and rivalries, including the potential for teammates to face each other.

Last Chance Open Qualifiers

A new “Last Chance Open Qualifier” will be introduced, held between Major 2 and the World Championship.

These qualifiers will occur in the four strongest regions based on performance at Majors.

Only one team from each region will advance to the World Championship, raising the stakes and giving underdog teams one final opportunity to qualify.

Expanded World Championship

The 2025 World Championship will expand from 16 to 20 teams, including a new play-in stage.

Four teams from the Last Chance Qualifiers will compete against the lowest-seeded teams from the lowest-ranked regions.

From this stage, four teams will advance to join the top 12 in the main event.

This format gives more teams a shot at glory on the biggest stage in Rocket League.

Ranking Qualification System

A new Rankings Qualification system will also streamline the qualification process.

The top eight teams from each qualifier will automatically advance to later stages in the next Open Qualifier, bypassing early rounds.

This system won’t apply to the first qualifier of each split or the Last Chance Qualifier, maintaining competitiveness for fresh challengers.

With these exciting changes, the 2025 RLCS season promises to deliver more opportunities, intense rivalries, and unforgettable moments.

Fans and players alike can look forward to what could be the most dynamic season in Rocket League history.

G2 Stride has created history by claiming the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) London Major, becoming the first North American roster to win a Major after defeating Team Falcons 4-1 in the grand final at Copper Box Arena.

As a North American team, they also became the first squad from their region to win a Major on European soil since NRG Esports won the RLCS World Championship in Madrid, Spain, in 2019.

Following their second-place finish at the Copenhagen Major earlier in the year, G2 entered the years second Major as one of the favourites with most esports betting sites.

With a roster featuring Massimo Atomic Franceschi, Daniel Daniel Piecnenski, and Landon BeastMode Knoerman, who are all established players in the Rocket League scene, G2 cruised through their early games, recording back-to-back 3-0 series victories.

However, it would be Team Falcons that would hand them their first and only defeat of the tournament in the third round of the group stage, as they dominated G2 3-0 (4-2, 2-0, 6-0).

G2 bounced back with a tough win against Gen.G to book their place in the playoffs and set up a clash with Spacestation Gaming in the quarter-finals.

Both G2 and Falcons claimed 4-1 victories in their quarter-final series against Spacestation and Gen.G, respectively, setting up mouth-watering matches against FURIA and Gentle Mates in the semi-finals.

G2 played out a back-and-forth encounter with FURIA before taking the series with a 4-2 (2-0, 3-0, 1-3, 1-3, 2-1, 2-1) score line, while Falcons was pushed all the way to seven maps in their 4-3 (1-2, 4-0, 1-3, 1-0, 2-3, 2-1, 2-1) win over Gentle Mates.

Although Falcons took the opening map of the grand final 2-1, G2 didnt let the demons of their previous clash get to them, and thanks to an outstanding performance by BeastMode, they won the next four to wrap up the series 4-1 (1-2, 2-0, 2-1, 1-0, 3-0).

BeastMode was awarded the London Major Most Valuable Player after his stand-out performance for G2 Stride, with the 18-year-old earning his second MVP award of his career.

The opening day of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) London Major kicked off on Thursday, June 20, with all 16 teams playing their opening two matches of the Swiss Stage.

Team BDS, G2 Stride and Team Vitality entered the second Major of the 2024 RLCS season as the favourites with esports betting sites and they didnt let their followers down, as they all claimed dominant round one victories.

All but one of the favourites won their round one clashes, with only Oxygen Esports losing to PWR in a 3-1 (2-1, 3-1, 2-0, 5-4) upset in the first match of the tournament.

Heading into the second round of series, G2 Stride drew the easiest match-up in the winners bracket, as they took on PWR and thrashed the Oceania squad 3-0 (6-0, 5-1, 3-2), maintaining their perfect record after a 3-0 (1-0, 3-2, 3-1) win in round one.

Team Vitality clashed with Gen.G and were forced to play all five maps before claiming a gritty 3-2 (5-0, 2-1, 1-3, 1-3, 1-0) win to remain undefeated on the opening day.

Joining G2 and Vitality in the round three winners bracket will be Team Falcons and FURIA, who bested Team BDS and Gentle Mates in their respective clashes in round two.

The winners of each of the two round three winners bracket series will qualify for the playoffs, earning themselves the rest of the day off to prepare for Saturdays quarterfinals.

On the other end of the spectrum, Twisted Minds, Chieds Esports Club, Gaimin Gladiators and Team Mobula will play for their tournament lives on day two, following back-to-back losses on the opening day, with a third loss resulting in elimination from the London Major.

The RLCS London Major will resume at 2pm BST on Friday.

Friday’s round three matches

Another big week of pro gaming kicks off on June 17, 2024, with Rocket League taking the focus of the esports world.

The second Major tournament of the 2024 Rocket League Championship Series will be front and centre, with the four-day event kicking off in London on June 20 and running until June 23.

The EMEA and Americas VALORANT Champions Tour leagues will also begin this week, kicking off on June 18 and 22, respectively.

  • RLCS Major 2: London

The Copper Box Arena in London, England, will host RLCS Major 2, where the top 16 Rocket League teams will compete across four days.

Each team will be competing for a share of US$255,000 as well as valuable ranking points towards qualification for the RLCS World Championship later in the year.

Gentle Mates Alpine will seek to replicate their victory at RLCS Major 1, while the likes of G2 Stride, Karmine Corp and Team Vitality will look to improve on their top-four finishes at that tournament.

Esports betting sites have Team BDS marked as the +400 favourite in the outright market, closely followed by G2 Stride and Team Vitality at +500 apiece.

Check out our extensive RLCS Major 2 betting guide to get the latest odds and tournament information.

  • VCT EMEA & VCT Americas: Split 2

VCT EMEA Split 2 will begin on Tuesday, June 18, at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany.

Fnatic are the +200 favourites with bookmakers to claim the Split 2 title and book their spot at VALORANT Champions.

VCT Americas Split 2 will kick off on Saturday, June 22, at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles.

Differing from the EMEA league, bookmakers have 100 Thieves marked as slender +275 favourites, closely followed by Sentinels at +300.

Complexity Gaming are priced as heavy underdogs for this match, which isn’t surprising considering they’re only third-best Rocket League team from North America. However, they might be a bit underrated.

Even though Complexity haven’t found much success in the regional league, this is a group of very experienced players with a solid synergy. As Europe’s third seed, Vitality deserve a bit more respect since they hail from a more challenging region, but they’ve not shown much more than Complexity Gaming this season.

Vitality have a higher ceiling, and they’ve won seven of their last eight series. But the quality gap between the two sides isn’t nearly as large as the offered Rocket League esports betting odds suggest. Trust Complexity Gaming to keep it close.

Rule One are considered one of the weakest teams attending Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2024 Major 1. Still, it’s easy to forget how good this core (ex-Team Falcons) was in previous seasons. Hisham “Nwpo” Alqadi is still an excellent player, and while Khalid “oKhaliD” Qasim and Ahmad “Ahmad” Abdullah might not be viewed as top-tier, they can carry their weight.

Gentle Mates Alpine are getting a lot of respect as Europe’s no.4 squad, but they’ve not beaten any notable teams over the last month. During RLCS 2024 Major 1: EU Open Qualifier 1, Gentle Mates looked great, but they’ve since cooled down, so we should take their early-season success with a grain of salt.

The current offer seems to be based a lot on the perceived strength of the team based on the region they’re from. But believing that Europe’s no.4 seed is much stronger than MENA’s no.2 team is too optimistic.

Team Falcons signed Saleh Abdullah “Rw9” Bakhashwin and Yazid Abdullah “Kiileerrz” Bakhashwin from Rule One at the end of 2023, forming the most dominant MENA Rocket League team. Team Falcons have won all three RLCS 2024 Major 1 MENA Open Qualifiers and cruised their way to the Saudi eLeagues 2024 Major 1 Final title last week, proving they’re more than ready to do some damage in Denmark.

OG have not been as early as successful this season, but this is an extremely experienced roster with players who all won at least one big LAN event title. Form-wise, OG aren’t in a good spot, but this could be one of the teams that will do much better on LAN.

Team Falcons are very talented and not an easy opponent. But we’re putting more weight on the LAN experience, which makes OG a very attractive choice.

FURIA Esports have been dominating the South American Rocket League esports scene. Despite their slip-up in the first RLCS 2024 Major 1: SAM Open Qualifier, FURIA hold an absurd 41-2 record since October 2023. From the start of the RLCS 2024 season, FURIA Esports are 23-2.

Beating on regional opponents doesn’t guarantee that FURIA Esports will do well on the international stage. But they’re in excellent form and have enough talent to do some damage in Denmark.

Luminosity Gaming, on the other side, haven’t looked great recently. They’re 12-6 since the start of RLCS 2024 Major 1: NA Open Qualifier 2, and their recent results are even more worrying, with three wins against The Muffin Men, M80, and Boulevard and three losses against Dignitas, OG, and Omelette from their last six.

A team’s online form doesn’t always indicate their chances to do well on LAN. But in this match, it’s tough to find a good reason to fade FURIA Esports.

BLAST has officially secured the operations of two major esports titles, Fortnite and Rocket League, in multi-year deals.

Despite the dominance of ESL FACEIT Group in the industry, BLAST has expanded its influence, taking over commercial rights for competitive broadcasts and events for both games.

Initially partnering with Epic Games in 2021 for Fortnite events, BLAST has now renewed and expanded the collaboration, handling all operations for the Fortnite Championship Series (FNCS) and venturing into the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).

This move comes as a surprise to those who expected BLAST to contract following the ESL-FACEIT merger.

BLAST, known for its prominent role in Counter-Strike with BLAST Premier, has been strategic in its expansion, also overseeing leagues and events in Rainbow Six Siege and FNCS.

The company’s ability to operate within the margins, securing contracts for esports beyond traditional sports arenas, signals a positive outlook for diversified competition among tournament organizers.

While ESL’s vast resources could potentially dominate the market, BLAST’s flexibility and ability to secure contracts for esports with varying levels of popularity showcase a healthier competition landscape.

The expansion into RLCS marks a significant step for BLAST, taking charge of all league operations for the FNCS and RLCS, demonstrating its commitment to elevating and growing competitive properties in collaboration with major game publishers like Epic Games.

Team Vitality have claimed the 2023 RLCS World Championship after defeating Team BDS 4-0 in the grand final in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Sunday.

After entering the 2022-23 season finale as the favourite with most esports betting sites, Vitality completed their tournament triumph without losing a single series and only lost five maps for the entire tournament.

Vitality kicked off the playoff bracket with a 4-2 win against Team Falcons, setting up a semi-final battle between Europes top two seeds.

The first semi-final between Vitality and Karmine Corp was a tight back-and-forth series, but after KC levelled the match at two maps apiece, Vitality claimed the fifth and sixth maps to book their place in the grand final.

On the other side of the bracket, Team BDS steamrolled both G2 Esports (4-1) and Team Liquid (4-0) to set up a rematch of the Spring Split Major final from just over a month ago.

After both Vitality and BDS had dominated their respective sides of the bracket, there were high expectations placed on the final series of the World Championship; however, Vitality continued their dominant run and claimed the title with four straight map wins.

Vitalitys roster of Yanis Alpha54 Champenois, Andrea Radosin Radovanovic and Alexis zen Bernier ended the 2022-23 Rocket League season as the best team in the world, after winning both the Spring Split Major and World Championship titles in back-to-back events.

The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2022-23 World Championship is set to kick off on Thursday, August 3, at PSD Bank Dome in Dsseldorf, Germany. The tournament will welcome 24 Rocket League esports teams vying for the lion’s share of the $2,100,000 prize pool and the title of world champion.

Here is our RLCS 2022-23 World Championship tournament betting preview and top picks, with odds from the top Rocket League betting sites for gamblers in United States.

Europeans dominate RLCS World Championship betting

The latest RLCS 2022-23 World Championship betting odds suggest that European teams will dominate this tournament. This is hardly surprising considering Europe’s success at the RLCS Spring Split Major last month when Team Vitality (+350), Team BDS (+400), and Karmine Corp (+450) claimed the top three spots.

North America will send a few strong representatives, including Fall Split champions Gen.G Mobil1 Racing (+600) and Winter Split winners FaZe Clan (+800). Yet both squads have been struggling lately, with FaZe missing the Spring Split Major and Gen.G finishing the event in fifth-sixth place.

Rule One (+1200) – the top seed from the MENA region – join the list of dangerous outsiders following their dominant run through the domestic league and a surprisingly strong showing at the Spring Major. There, the Saudi Arabian squad finished fourth with their only defeats coming against the eventual finalists, Team Vitality (0-4) and Team BDS (0-3).

Likewise, South America’s Ninjas in Pyjamas (+2000) are not to be ignored, fielding the former The Club duo of Bernardo “Bemmz” Siqueira Marta and Luiz Fellipe “Aztromick” Lopes Gomes, who left a mark at the last RLCS World Championship. Even this season, NiP showed good form domestically, although their sole international appearance resulted in a 9th-12th finish at the RLCS Spring Major.

Team Vitality seeking more RLCS success

Team Vitality come into the RLCS 2022-23 World Championship as clear favourites with online bookmakers and esports analysts. By winning the RLCS 2022-23 Spring Split Major, they completed a perfect split, having also won the three European regional events C Spring Open, Spring Cup, and Spring Invitational.

Much of Vitality’s late resurgence was thanks to phenomenal performances from Alexis “zen” Bernier. The 16-year-old won the tournament MVP and Offensive MVP reward at the RLCS 2022-23 Spring Major, where he averaged a 1.195 rating with 2.15 saves and 0.85 goals per game.

His teammates, Yanis “Alpha54” Champenois and Andrea “Radosin” Radovanovi?, also played an incredible tournament, ranking among the top-performing players. It seems like everything is falling into place for Vitality to complete their five-peat, so the question is not so much whether they can do it, but rather if any team can stop them.

RLCS 2022-23 World Championship betting predictions

Team Vitality are deserving favourites to win RLCS 2022-23 World Championship, but there are two teams that can spoil their plans.

Karmine Corp have been one of the more consistent Rocket League esports teams of the year, as they’ve not placed worse than fourth across all regional events this season. They also collected a bronze medal from the Spring Split Major, narrowly losing the lower-bracket final against Vitality (3-4).

It marked KC’s fourth head-to-head defeat against Vitality from five meetings since the start of the final split, but the last two losses were all very close, suggesting that Karmine Corp, on a good day, can derail the European champions.

Team BDS’ title claims rest largely on their 4-1 victory over Team Vitality in the upper-bracket semifinals of the RLCS 2022-23 Spring Split Major. Still, they got crushed by Vitality just a day later in the Major finals, worsening their head-to-head record since the start of the split to 1-5.

Compared to others, Team BDS and Karmine Corp stand some chance of defeating Team Vitality and denying them the world title. But we would need to get a much better offer on the outsiders to consider fading the outright favourites.

The world’s best head to Boston, Massachusetts, this week for the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2022/23 Spring Split Major, set to kick off on Thursday, July 6. Here you can find Rocket League betting picks Complexity vs Team Liquid and Team BDS vs Gen.G Mobil1 Racing on the opening day of play.

?Team Liquid looked good at the start of the split, when they made the finals of the RLCS Spring Open, but they have since fallen off with seventh-eighth and fifth-sixth finishes at the Spring Cup and Spring Invitational. A poor stretch isn’t enough to start doubting Liquid’s quality, but they’re not in the best shape.

Like Liquid, Complexity had an explosive start to the split, with a gold medal from the Spring Open in May. Since then, it’s been downhill for Victor “Reysbull” Duran Parra and his crew with a 9th-12th finish at the Spring Cup and seventh-eighth at the Spring Invitational. In Complexity’s defence, they were eliminated from the Spring Cup by NRG Esports (2-3) and at the Spring Invitational they lost against Gen.G (1-3).

This is a clash between two struggling teams, so it could get messy. Team Liquid might be better, but that’s purely speculative because they hail from a stronger region. This looks like a 50-50 match, so we’ll take the outsiders at plus money.

?The opening round of the RLCS Spring Split Major continues with another NA vs EU clash, featuring Gen.G Mobil1 Racing and Team BDS – two of the strongest teams from their respective regions. Gen.G are priced as favourites, but it’s hard to say they are stronger than BDS.

Gen.G have fallen off hard, with two disappointing runs at the Spring Cup (9th-12th) and Spring Invitational (5th-6th). On a more positive note, this squad is very experienced on LAN, so it makes sense that they’re expected to do well in Boston.

Team BDS have looked good this split, with two bronze medals from the Spring Open and Spring Cup and a runner-up finish at the Spring Invitational. Most importantly, BDS showed immense improvement at the end of the split and look like serious candidates to make a deep run in Boston.

This will be a proper test and a crucial match for both teams. And while Gen.G Mobil1 Racing deserve some respect, they’re in worse form than Team BDS.
