Counter Logic Gaming are reportedly on the verge of selling their esports squads, particularly their League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) lineup, and carrying out massive layoffs within the organization.

League of Legends reporter Travis Gafford announced the news, revealing that CLG would also sell off their long-held LCS slot. The layoffs are expected to start as early as this Thursday.

The parent company of CLG, The Madison Square Garden Company, reportedly informed all CLG staff at the start of the week that they would be laid off by Saturday – including George HotshotGG Georgallidis, the company president.

The esports organizations LoL division will be the only sector left and will continue competing until the company is sold. NRG Esports are reportedly the lead candidates to purchase the team; however, it is not certain whether the Los Angeles-based outfit would buy just CLGs LCS team and slot, or the entire organization.

NRG participated in the 2016 season of the LCS and currently compete in a number of esports leagues, like OWL and ALGS. They also hold a franchised spot in Riot Games VCT Americas VALORANT league.

The fate of CLGs other active lineups remains unknown. The organization also runs a Super Smash Bros roster and a female CS:GO lineup, CLG Red.

Just days before the news, a report circulated about TSM, another foundational LCS organization, and their intention to sell their LCS spot and move out of esports due to financial troubles. CLG and TSM are the only squads to have participated in every LCS split dating back to 2013.

The League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) on Wednesday announced Juan “Contractz” Garcia, the jungler for CLG, as the Most Improved Player for the 2022 season.

This is the second time that the LCS has given out an award for the Most Improved Player, with Cloud9 top laner Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami being the recipient of the inaugural version of the honor.

Contractz is completing his sixth year in the LCS and has been one of the most valuable players on the team. After a few rocky years, he ended up leading the squad through an LCS Championship run, which has been one of the best seasons of his League of Legends career.

Contractzs remarkable growth throughout the span of the year has been evidenced by CLG’s upswing, which went from an eighth-place finish with 6-12 wins in the spring to a fourth-place finish with 11 wins in the summer. He played his part at full stretch over both halves of the season.

Contractz did not have a good Spring Split experience. According to the statistics site Games of Legends, he led all players in the league in deaths with 73 across 17 games. As a result, he had the worst KDA ratio (1.7) of all players.

During the summer, he became unrecognizable in terms of the results of the choices he made while playing the game. CLG had the highest first blood percentage of any team, clocking in at 66.7 percent, and Contractz himself swept away every jungler with a mark of 61.1 percent, which put him in a league of his own in that metric. With a score of 44.4 percent, TSM’s Mingyi “Spica” Lu came in second.

Earlier this month, in an interview, Contractz said: “I think Im very creative with my pathing and I see a lot of angles other junglers wouldnt see. Im definitely a driving force in the early game that people have to prepare for.”

In 2017, Contractz made his debut in the LCS on Cloud9 along with Impact, Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen, Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi, and Andy “Smoothie” Ta. In the same year, he qualified for the Worlds as a freshman, just a few short weeks after turning 18 years old. He spent the next four years moving around the LCS and the Academy league after being lauded as among the most promising talents in the region.

Although Contractz has been awarded for his efforts during this split, the work that needs to be done for CLG in 2022 is not yet complete. On Thursday, at 3pm CT, they will compete against Team Liquid in the lower bracket of the LCS Championship. Liquid are -285.71 favourites with BetOnline, while CLG are +290 outsiders.

If CLG defeat Team Liquid and then come out on top against either Evil Geniuses or TSM on September 4, they will have a chance to compete in the 2022 LoL Worlds.

Week three continues in the LCS Summer Split with three more games as we near the mid-season break for the LCS. www.behindzioncurtain.com have provided their best bets for three of Sundays League of Legends matches, with top LoL betting odds courtesy of BetOnline.

DIGNITAS vs TSM LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: Dignitas +120 at BetOnline | TSM -163.93 at BetOnline

Dignitas and TSM come into this best-of-one match with only one win separating them in the standing for the LCS Summer Split. Dignitas sit in equal-last with a 1-4 record and TSM sit in equal-fifth with a 2-3 record.

Dignitas have only recorded one win for the Split so far and that came against the team sitting in equal last with them, Immortals. Outside of that win, Dignitas has struggled in most of their matches with only two of their four losses lasting 30 minutes or longer. Dignitas also struggled to make any impact in their first three losses with the team only managing a combined eight kills for those three matches where they lost to CLG, Team Liquid and 100 Thieves.

TSM have a 2-3 record through their first five games for the LCS Summer Split, with both of their wins coming against Immortals and Team Liquid. TSM started the Split off slowly with two defeats in a row to 100 Thieves and CLG, but they have since found their form with two wins from their next three dominating Immortals and Team Liquid, both in under 30 minutes. If TSM bring the form from their dominating wins to this match against Dignitas we could see a very quick match here.

We will be siding with the favourites in this best-of-one, but at $1.61 in the win market is too short to suggest a bet, therefore we will be taking TSM at the kill handicap of -4.5 at $1.83 with top esports betting sites.

Cloud9 vs FlyQuest LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: Cloud9 -277.78 at BetOnline | FlyQuest +200 at BetOnline
When: July 3, 2022 | 14:30 PDT
Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

Cloud9 and FlyQuest will begin week three with identical records of 2-3 and sit in equal-fifth together after both teams have had very up-and-down Splits so far.

Cloud9 have beaten Dignitas and 100 Thieves to record their two wins this Split and have lost to Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiatiors and Evil Geniuses. Starting off the LCS Summer Split with three losses in a row was not the ideal start for the boys from Cloud9 but they have since found some form and they have now put two wins together in their last two matches.

FlyQuest started their Split on the right foot with a convincing win over Gaimin Gladiators but since then they have only been able to register one more win from their next four matches. Being beaten by Immortals, Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid and their single win coming against the equal-first team in CLG. Although FlyQuest has lost three of their last four, all of their games have been close and they have played every team who sit in equal first in the standings this Split.

If FlyQuest and Cloud9 bring the form that they have shown in their last two games to this match-up, we could see a very competitive League of Legends battle. We think the online bookmakers have got this one wrong, and we will taking FlyQuest to win this match.

Team Liquid vs CLG LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: Team Liquid -277.78 at BetOnline | CLG +200 at BetOnline
When: July 3, 2022 | 15:30 PDT
Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

The last match that we will preview for week three of the LCS Summer Split is the top of the table clash between Team Liquid and CLG who both have 4-1 records and are tied for first-place.

Team Liquid starting the Split on fire winning their first three matches over Immortals, Dignitas and Cloud9 who all sit towards the bottom of the standings. They then lost their next match against TSM and won a very tight contest against FlyQuest, in their most recent match. Given the teams that Team Liquid have beaten so far this Split, there is a query on the form and strength of their wins and teams they have beaten. This will be their toughest match for the Split so far.

CLG also started off their LCS Summer campaign with three straight wins over Dignitas, TSM and Gaimin Gladiators. They were then defeated by FlyQuest in one of the best games of the Split so far, but they were able to bounce back and defeat Evil Geniuses in another tight contest. CLG does have the better resume of the too in this match-up so we believe they should be the favourites here but the online bookmakers do not agree.

Given that we believe CLG has the better resume here and they should be favourites, we have no reason not to take them at the $3 with bookies.

According to numerous sources, the North American organization CLG is getting ready to join VALORANT in the next few months after submitting an application to take part in the partnered league in the following year.

During its tenure in the LCS, the franchised North American League of Legends league, CLG developed a strong relationship with VALORANT creator Riot Games. This relationship continues to this day. The organization has been around for more than ten years, making it one of the more venerable ones.

CLG maintains a lineup of VALORANT Game Changers, which the organization most likely will utilize as a point of differentiation when applying for a partnership.

Within the next several months, the company plans to make an effort to deploy a male VALORANT roster. However, it should be aware that it will face severe competition from other prominent companies who are also trying to have a team in the partnered league.

CLG, along with virtually all of the other leading organizations in North America, has submitted a partnership application with Riot for VALORANT. In the event that CLG was granted acceptance, the organization would join the partnered league to compete against other granted organizations. This league will begin play next year and will include teams not just from Brazil but also from Latin America.

By September, teams will receive notice as to whether or not they have been admitted into their respective associated leagues. This is the time period that is closest to the beginning of VALORANT Champions, the most awaited tournament of the year.

Several institutions may explore the possibility of joining the North American league because it is anticipated to have the biggest number of viewers. For instance, the European-based organization G2 has reportedly submitted a proposal for a franchise in the North American region. This was initially reported by journalist neL and has since been verified by various individuals. According to the reports, G2 has also submitted an application to play in the European league as a fallback alternative.
