ROYAL NEVER GIVE UP vs VICI GAMING CHINA DOTA 2 PRO LEAGUE SEASON 2 BETTING PREVIEW

Royal Never Give Up and ViCi Gaming are slated to clash on Friday in round one of the China Dota2 Pro League Season 2 playoffs, where they will be chasing a ticket for the upper bracket finals and ¥50,000 (~US $7,000) in guaranteed prize money.

Royal Never Give Up’s performances through May were as volatile as can be. Although Su “Flywin” Lei and co. hold a solid 11-6 record since the start of the month, their results are all over the place.

RNG finished fourth at OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online: China, which was slightly underwhelming after a strong run in the group stage. They started the playoffs well, picking up wins against EHOME (2-0) and Invictus Gaming (2-0), but fell flat in the rematch against EHOME (1-2) in the second round of the lower bracket.

On Sunday, RNG concluded a disappointing campaign at DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1 way down in seventh place behind CDEC Gaming, ViCi, Team Aster, Invictus Gaming, PSG.LGD and EHOME. It is worth noting, however, that Flywin and his crew finished only one win outside the top four.

RNG’s results in the DPL-CDA Pro League perfectly displayed their struggles with consistency. Although they defeated PSG.LGD (2-0), Keen Gaming (2-0) and Sparking Arrow Gaming (2-0), they failed to show up against ViCi (1-2), IG (1-2), EHOME (0-2), CDEC (1-2) and Aster (0-2). The win over PSG.LGD came a day after RNG lost to the same team, while the loss to IG was succeeded by a clean sweep over them a week later.

ViCi Gaming are not looking much better than Royal Never Give Up when it comes to consistency. Nevertheless, Zeng “Ori” Jiaoyang and co. can enter this match with their heads held high after defeating RNG twice in their last three meetings.

Since the start of April, ViCi finished ESL One Los Angeles 2020 – Online: China in fourth place and CDA League Season 1 in fifth place a couple of weeks later. After those less-than-inspiring results, ViCi got back on the horse and put up a dominant run through OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online: China.

At OGA Dota PIT, ViCi topped their group and followed that up with a strong showing in the playoffs, where they defeated Aster (2-1), PSG.LGD (2-0) in the upper bracket finals and again in the grand finals (3-1) to hoist the trophy and pocket $25,000 in tournament winnings. That marked ViCi Gaming’s first title since they triumphed at ONE Esports Dota 2 World Pro Invitational Singapore in December 2019.

ROYAL NEVER GIVE UP vs VICI GAMING CHINA DOTA 2 PRO LEAGUE SEASON 2 BETTING PREDICTIONS

These two last met on May 9 at DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1, where ViCi came away with a 2-1 win. The series was relatively close, but there is no denying the victors were the better side on the day.

Just under a month before that clash, ViCi and RNG played out a similar contest at CDA League Season 1. RNG had their moments and even looked like the better side at times, but the well-drilled ViCi showed up when it mattered and did enough to clinch the points.

Considering ViCi have defeated RNG twice in the last two months, the betting odds offered on this match are more than fair. Perhaps RNG are slightly underrated by esports bookmakers, but their lack of consistency makes it very difficult to back them in.

NEWBEE vs SPARKING ARROW GAMING CHINA DOTA 2 PRO LEAGUE SEASON 2 BETTING PREVIEW

Two of the worst teams in the China Dota2 Professional League will meet this Saturday when Newbee take on Sparking Arrow Gaming in Week 7 of Season 2.

Newbee have yet to win a single match this term, which sits them at the bottom of the table and guarantees them elimination from the league. About the only positive from their campaign so far is that Wen “Wizard” Lipeng and co. took a map each off CDEC Gaming and Royal Never Give Up.

Newbee have also left a lot to be desired in the DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1, where they lost to ViCi Gaming, Keen Gaming, CDEC and Sparking Arrow. However, they ended a month-long losing streak on Tuesday with a reverse sweep against Invictus Gaming. That upset win came down to impressive performances from Wizard and Yin “Aq” Rui, who terrorised IG with Shadow Fiend and Broodmother to end the series with a 20-5 kills-deaths ratio.

SEE ALSO: HOW TO BET ON DOTA 2 ESPORTS

Despite Aq’s recent surge in form, Sparking Arrow Gaming will fancy their chances to defeat Newbee again, as they did on Monday when they handed Wizard and his crew their fourth defeat in the DPL-CDA Pro League. However, that match was not as one-sided as it may seem.

Newbee had Sparking Arrow with their backs to the wall for the majority of game one but failed to use the early advantage to seal the deal, which allowed SAG to scale and overrun their opponents in the late game. Newbee fixed that mistake in game two, where they kept Ou “Op” Peng and co. at bay from minute one and came away with a win in under 32 minutes. The last map of the series was the complete opposite, although the 42.5k net worth deficit doesn’t show the real picture.

Sparking Arrow hold a 5-5 record in their last 10 matches, but it’s worth noting that most of those wins came in Development League fixtures. In the Dota2 Pro League, SAG have managed only one win – against Team Aster – in seven outings this season.

NEWBEE vs SPARKING ARROW GAMING CHINA DOTA 2 PRO LEAGUE SEASON 2 BETTING PREDICTIONS

On paper, Sparking Arrow Gaming look to be in much better shape than Newbee. However, it’s hard to ignore the fact that SAG have been participating in the Development League, where they’re facing tier-two teams.

We are still leaning towards Sparking Arrow on form, but the odds on a three-map series are far more appealing than those for an outright result. Newbee took one map from SAG in their last meeting and defeated IG not long ago, so they should make a game of it this Saturday.

NEWBEE vs ROYAL NEVER GIVE UP CHINA DOTA 2 PRO LEAGUE SEASON 2 BETTING PREVIEW

Newbee will be looking to bounce back from a 0-6 start to their Dota2 Pro League Season 2 campaign this Sunday when they face Royal Never Give Up for the fifth time this year.

There is nothing good to say about Newbee’s performances so far this season. Having already lost to ViCi (0-2), PSG.LGD (0-2), Invictus Gaming (0-2), EHOME (0-2), CDEC Gaming (1-2) and Keen Gaming (0-2), Wen “Wizard” Lipeng and company’s chances of avoiding relegation are slim to none.

But it’s not only their Pro League campaign that has fallen flat. In their last 10 fixtures, which span the Pro League, CDA League S1, JJB Spring Cup S2 and DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1, Newbee managed only two wins. The most recent of those triumphs was a 2-1 result against Keen in the CDA League on April 18, since when they have lost five straight to IG, PSG.LGD, EHOME and CDEC (twice).

As a team, Newbee have been struggling since their ninth-12th finish at The International 2019. Although they have seen some success in a few minor tournaments this season and had a few occasional flashes of greatness, they the quality required to compete with the top Chinese Dota2 teams.

While Newbee have been fighting an uphill battle, Royal Never Give Up have established themselves as serious contenders for the Dota2 Pro League title. Ahead of Week 6, RNG hold a 6-1 series record and 12-2 map record to sit atop the league standings. The only team to stop RNG this season were Invictus Gaming at the start of April, while Gao “Setsu” Zhenxiong and his crew have made easy work of any other team that stood in their way.

RNG have, however, had a few shaky performances beyond the Pro League. They lost to EHOME (0-2) and IG (1-2) in DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1 last week, and they went down to Aster (0-2) and ViCi (1-2) in CDA League Season 1 two weeks prior. While those results appear to indicate some volatility, we can cut RNG some slack due to the unpredictable nature of online fixture.

VICI GAMING vs CDEC GAMING CHINA DOTA 2 PRO LEAGUE SEASON 2 BETTING PREDICTIONS

The Dota2 esports scene has been littered with upsets since all competitive play was moved online. But when the skill gap between two teams is as large as it is here, picturing the final result becomes significantly easier.

In their last four meetings, RNG won three times with an 8-3 aggregate score. While Newbee won their most recent bout, which took place at the start of April in the CDA League, any form they had going at the time has well and truly dissipated.

Calling a clean sweep is a bold move in online play, but it is difficult to see ay other result in this case. Esports bookmakers are offering decent odds on RNG to win every map, which makes the decision much easier.

NEWBEE vs EHOME CHINA DOTA2 PRO LEAGUE SEASON 2 BETTING PREVIEW

Newbee and EHOME are set to lock horns in a best-of-three (Bo3) clash this Sunday during Week 1 of China Dota2 Professional League Season 2.

Unlike most other Dota2 esports teams, Newbee have not made any roster changes this year. Perhaps they should have, however, seeing how their performances from January to March were a bit shaky.

Newbee kicked off 2020 with a ninth-place finish in China Dota2 Professional League Season 1 and a title at Elite Challenge S2. In February, Wen “Wizard” Lipeng and his crew finished runners-up at the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3 China Qualifier and secured top-six finishes at both the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 China Closed Qualifier and Hainan Master Spring Invitational China Qualifier, to which they added two more fifth-sixth placements at Elite Challenge S3 and Asian Hero League S2 in March.

Although Newbee’s overall results fail to inspire much optimism, the TI4 champions had their moment earlier this week at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 – Online: China when they claimed big wins over ViCi (2-0), Invictus Gaming (2-0) and PSG.LGD (2-1). That marks a significant turnaround from their losses to Avengerls, CLcombat Team and The New Top in the Asian Hero League two weeks prior.

Their volatile results indicate Newbee are dealing with some consistency issues. While there are arguments to be made that Wizard and co. did not care too much about their Asian Hero League venture, losing to teams of that quality is still hard to explain.

Outside of allowing Cheng “vtFaded” Jia Hao and Ren “eLeVeN” Yangwei to leave their inactive roster and team up with Cloud9 and PSG.LGD respectively, EHOME have not seen any changes to their Dota2 project since they signed Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang and Liu “Sylar” Jiajun in November 2019.

Through November and December, Zhang “y`” Yiping and co. finished fourth at the World Electronic Sports Games 2019 China Online Qualifier and DreamLeague Season 13 China Closed Qualifier, made it to the semi-finals of the WePlay! Bukovel Minor 2020 China Qualifier and closed out the year with a first-round elimination from the World Electronic Sports Games 2019 China Finals at the hands of Invictus Gaming.

Since January, EHOME have placed eighth in China Dota2 Professional League Season 1, third at the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 China Closed Qualifier and crashed out of WeSave! Charity Play – China in round one after suffering a devastating 0-2 loss against ViCi Gaming.

If we draw a line, EHOME have produced some solid results without producing anything spectacular. They have been slightly unlucky in a few of their tournament ventures, however, as they’ve met some of the strongest teams early on.

NEWBEE vs EHOME CHINA DOTA2 PRO LEAGUE SEASON 2 BETTING PREDICTIONS

This fixture will pin together two Dota2 teams who, on paper, look to have well-matched squads, yet esports bookmakers have y`and co. priced as comfortable favourites.

Newbee have put on some standout performances in recent months, namely their wins over ViCi, Invictus and PSG.LGD, but defeats against CLcombat Team, Avengerls and The New Top show how inconsistent they can be. Furthermore, EHOME have defeated Newbee in each of their last seven meetings dating back to the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 2 China Qualifier in May 2019.

EHOME produce much more stable results and are historically the stronger team, so they are a solid bet in this clash. Newbee can still have their moments of greatness, so placing a wager on a three-map series is still something to consider.

VICI GAMING vs INVICTUS GAMING CHINA DOTA2 PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE SEASON 1 BETTING PREVIEW

ViCi Gaming and Invictus Gaming will lock horns in round one of the China Dota2 Pro League Season 1 playoffs this Thursday. It will be their second meeting of the tournament after ViCi comfortably won their first clash during the first week of the season.

ViCi finished the round robin stage as the first seed with an impressive 7-2 record, which tied them with PSG.LGD at the top of the standings. The only two teams that managed to defeat ViCi throughout the entire season were Keen Gaming and iG Vitality in big upsets.

Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun and company won all of their remaining seven fixtures with a perfect 2-0 score, which goes to show how dominant ViCi are in their region. The Chinese outfit hold second spot in the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2019/20 standings with 5,100 DPC points, which they earned with a silver medal at MDL Chengdu and bronze at the Leipzig Major.

In Leipzig, ViCi bested the likes of Chaos EC, beastcoast, Invictus Gaming and Evil Geniuses but fell flat in the upper bracket finals against Team Secret (0-2) and lost their rematch with Evil Geniuses (1-2) in the lower bracket finals. Those were their last competitive fixtures, meaning that ViCi will not have played a single match in a month by the time they face off against Invictus.

Unlike ViCi, who cruised through the Pro League round robin stage with ease, Invictus Gaming secured promotion into the upper bracket by the skin of their teeth with a 5-4 record. They lost to Aster, EHOME, PSG.LGD and ViCi but managed to deliver against Keen Gaming, Newbee, Royal Never Give Up, Typhoon E-Sports Club and iG Vitality.

Invictus attended the DreamLeague Season 13 Leipzig Major last month and got off to a strong start, besting both Reality Rift and Alliance in Group C. Zhou “Emo” Yi and his squad hit a wall in the playoffs, however, as they lost to ViCi (1-2) and crashed down to the lower bracket. There, Invictus edged past Aster (2-1) and defeated beastcoast (2-0), but they were unable to get past Evil Geniuses in round four and so finished the Dota 2 Major tournament in fifth-sixth place.

At the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 China Closed Qualifier earlier this month, Invictus proved to be a class above every team they faced and dropped only one round as they clinched a spot at the LA Major. Invictus produced a stalemate against Keen Gaming and bested Look For Smile, EHOME, and the embattled Avengerls, who are tangled up in a match-fixing scandal due to some iffy displays at the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3 China Qualifier. In the playoffs, Invictus defeated Aster 2-0 to qualify for third Dota 2 Major of the year alongside Royal Never Give Up.

VICI GAMING VS INVICTUS GAMING CHINA DOTA2 PROFESSIONAL LEAGUE SEASON 1 BETTING PREDICTIONS

It should be obvious that ViCi are a much stronger team that Invictus. Priced at -294.12, the favourites should claim a comfortable win. Given the massive quality difference, there is a serious possibility Eurus and company might even walk away with a clean sweep.

Neither team have made any roster changes since September 2019. From that point on, ViCi and Invictus have met three times, and all three fixtures ended in favour of ViCi, two of which were clean sweeps.

ViCi won’t be attending the ESL Los Angeles Major, as they have already secured a spot at The International 10. As such, there is no reason for them to hold back and save their energy here. This will be their last big tournament before a long break from top-tier competition and with ¥1,500,000 (? USD $213,332) on the line, it’s hard to expect anything less than a strong performance from them.

The final two fixtures of the China Dota 2 Pro League Season 1 group stage will see Team Aster take on ViCi Gaming and Keen Gaming in a bid to avoid relegation. Here are our betting predictions for Wednesday’s matchups, with odds from BetOnline.

ViCi Gaming vs Team Aster

Wednesday, January 8 – 14:00 CST

Team Aster (+301) have been struggling throughout the first seven weeks of the Dota2 Pro League and enter the eighth and final week with a 2-4 record next to their name.

Their only two wins came against Typhoon E-Sports Club (2-1) in week one and EHOME (2-0) in week five, while they lost all the remaining four bouts against PSG.LGD, Newbee, RNG and iG Vitality. Suffice it to say Team Aster will not be finishing top four, nor are they in a position where they can expect to finish top six.

Besides their lacklustre performance in the Pro League, Aster also participated at ONE Esports World Pro Invitational Singapore, where they had their moments and managed to produce draws against Team Secret and Virtus.pro, yet their stalemate against J.Storm left a lot to be desired.

It seems like Aster have enough quality to put up solid performances against some top-tier teams, which is exactly what Pan “Fade” Yi and his squad will look to achieve here.

After winning ONE Esports World Pro Invitational Singapore in commanding fashion, ViCi (-526.32) have the right to be considered as the strongest Dota 2 esports team ahead of the second DPC Major.

ViCi are heavy favourites to defeat Aster, yet there is one small detail which might make ViCi slightly uneasy ahead of Wednesday’s bout.

Aster’s captain, Fade, is a former member of ViCi who was let go at the end of August last year and replaced by Xiong “Pyw” Jiahan. Fade was ViCi’s skipper and led the team to fifth-sixth place at The International 2019 as well as titles at DreamLeague S11 and the EPICENTER Major, so it’s safe to say he knows the team inside and out.

Expecting Aster to win here seems a bit far-fetched, simply due to the immense difference in the quality of individual players. With Fade on the team, however, they should at least be capable of chipping one map off the reigning ONE Esports champions.

Prediction: Aster +1.5 maps – +131 at BetOnline

Keen Gaming vs Team Aster

Wednesday, January 8 – 17:00 CST

Shortly after their meeting with ViCi, Team Aster (-208.33) will lock horns with Keen Gaming (+141) in what will be their third fixture of the day and the last fixture of the tournament’s group stage.

KG have had a fairly solid run so far this season and enter the last week of the competition with a 4-3 record, which puts them in a very favourable spot to secure an appearance in the upper bracket of the playoffs.

Besides their obligations in the Dota 2 Pro League, KG also participated at the Obao Elite Challenge, where they had a rather slow start in the group stage but switched into a higher gear in the later stages of the tournament and finished as runner-up. While the tournament lacked top-tier teams, KG still bested the likes of CDEC Gaming (2-1) and You Know Who (2-0).

Keen Gaming and Aster clashed several times throughout 2019, with their most recent meeting taking place in mid-December at the WESG China Finals, where KG won 1-0. In their last seven meetings dating back to February 2019, one match ended in a draw and the remaining six were split at three wins apiece.

This match could be much closer than expected. The odds show Aster as favourites mostly because of their singing of Fade; however, considering KG bested them only a month ago, we feel comfortable saying Keen are capable of at least pushing the series to three games.
