In just two and a half months, there would be yet another change in the CS:GO team of G2 if this information turned out to be accurate. On August 16, the company announced the signing of Justin “jks” Savage and Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen, who succeeded Audric “JACKZ” Jug and Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen in their respective roles.

Even though those modifications were made, G2 have not had much of a chance to contest against other teams. In the 16th season of the ESL Pro League, they made it all the way to the semifinals before being eliminated by Team Vitality, who went on to win the league.

G2 is still lacking in consistency, and the squad maybe in search of another coach to join their roster in the hopes of propelling them over the hurdle and into the ranks of the finest teams in the globe.

The behavior reportedly violated Riot Games�� code of conduct section in the company��s League of Legends European Championship rule book. As a result, Rodriguez has to stay away from the esports scene until November 13, 2022. The game developer claimed that the former CEO��s actions and statements presented Riot Games in a poor light.

Riot Games explained that Rodriguez��s previous actions clearly violated the LEC��s Official Rules�� Article 9.2: 5. The passage revealed that team members “may not give, make, issue, authorize, or endorse any statement or action having, or designed to have, an effect prejudicial or detrimental to the best interest of the League, Riot Games or its affiliates, or League of Legends, as determined in the sole and absolute discretion of the League.”

Rodriguez was banned from having “any managerial or operational position with a team or organization in a Riot-sanctioned competition” for the next eight weeks. The game developer��s suspension will officially kick off on September 18 when G2 Esports places Rodriguez back on unpaid leave.

Besides the suspension, Rodriguez was also mandated to undertake sensitivity and executive training overseen by an independent third party with no ties to G2, Rodriguez, or Riot Games. The ruling stated that the training had to be completed within 120 days, after which the G2 founder could be let back into Riot Games�� ecosystem.

120 days from now is roughly February 11, so Rodriguez will likely be a part of the game developer��s esports ecosystem under any organization at the start of 2023. The G2 founder is yet to respond publicly to Riot Games�� ruling.

Riot Games�� recent actions resulted from an investigation performed by the organization on September 19, after Rodriguez��s previous Andrew Tate-related incident.

A few weeks ago, the former esports organization head posted a video of himself partying with Andrew Tate, a controversial public figure.

In addition to his widely known misogynistic views, Tate has been accused of being a human trafficker. Due to his extreme views on sensitive topics, Tate has notably been banned from major social media platforms.

Aside from the clip showing Rodriguez��s affiliation with the infamous public figure, the former G2 seemed to worsen the situation after releasing a follow-up tweet. Rodriguez unsurprisingly received backlash from colleagues and fans due to the video and wrote back, revealing that he would not let his friendships be “policed.” The G2 founder added that he would “party with whoever the fuck I want.”

Shortly after the tweet was posted, G2 released a statement concerning the issue and explained that Rodriguez was placed on eight weeks of unpaid suspension by the company.

A few days later, the organization released a second statement announcing Rodriguez��s resignation from the post in G2. The former CEO also posted a video during that period where he broke the news to his followers and revealed that he regretted his actions.

Besides the online backlash, Rodriguez��s action cost G2 a spot on Valorant��s Americas league-partnered squads for the fast-approaching VCT 2023 season. “According to information that was relayed to me, it seems��and I wish I had another source to confirm it��but it seems Riot came to G2 and said, ��Ocelote [Rodriguez] is blacklisted. He can��t be a part of anything that involves Riot.�� And it seems��though I don��t know��but it seems Ocelote had to sell his shares in G2. That��s why in his video he said he no longer has ties with G2.”

If the as-of-yet unconfirmed report is accurate, this will be Riot Games�� most high-profile blacklisting incident involving a managerial member of a participating esports team. The game developer has placed a number of sanctions on the owners of organizations with teams in their ecosystem over the years.

Riot��s most recent sanction was placed against the owner of TSM, Andy ��Reginald�� Dinh. At the time, Reginald was fined $75,000, mandated to attend sensitivity training, and underwent two years of probation.

Neither Riot Games nor Rodriguez has confirmed or denied the reports. However, the head of League of Legends esports in EMEA, Maximilian Peter Schmidt, has debunked the report, calling the news false. Schmidt took to Twitter and revealed that Riot never forced Rodriguez to sell off his G2 shares.

“Hey everyone, I saw several false rumors regarding G2 & Carlos and wanted to clarify: The LEC has not requested Carlos to resign from G2 nor divest his ownership. We opened an investigation last week per our LEC rules, which is still ongoing.”

G2 as a whole are yet to say anything concerning the situation and made their last formal announcement-to-date when the company revealed that they accepted Rodriguez��s resignation.

While this seems harmless enough, he was partying with Andrew Tate, an infamous content creator and internet figure. In addition to being an alleged misogynist, Tate is also allegedly a human trafficker.

The video unsurprisingly received backlash from fans and colleagues alike, but Rodriguez seemed unfazed. The G2 CEO went on to post a tweet, saying that he would party with whoever he pleased and that no one had the right to monitor his friendships.

The no-pay suspension will be on during the League of Legends World Championship this year, in which G2��s League of Legends squad will compete. At the earliest, Rodriguez will be allowed back into the office on November 13.

Rodriguez’s actions dealt a sizable blow to G2��s reputation because the organization previously revealed their initiatives to ensure that women had a more stable standing in esports. They launched their second all-female esports team, this time for League of Legends. The first all-female G2 team was created for the organization��s Valorant franchise.
