In a ground breaking announcement, the Esports World Cup has revealed the addition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Warzone to their roster of games.

This development marks a significant expansion of the event, which now boasts an impressive line-up of 22 competitions, including some of the most popular esports titles such as Dota 2, League of Legends, Counter-Strike, and more.

The inclusion of Call of Duty titles brings a fresh wave of excitement to the Esports World Cup, with Modern Warfare 3 set to feature 16 competing teams vying for a generous prize pool of $1.8 million.

Meanwhile, Warzone will see 21 teams battling it out for their share of a $1 million prize pool.

These tournaments are scheduled to take place from July 3 to 6 for Warzone and August 15 to 18 for MW3.

However, amidst the anticipation surrounding this monumental event, there has been criticism from various quarters within the esports community.

Some stakeholders have raised concerns about the Esports World Cup being hosted in Saudi Arabia, citing the country’s human rights record and its stance on LGBTQ+ rights.

This criticism has led to discussions about the concept of “esportswashing,” wherein countries use esports events to improve their public image despite ongoing controversies.

The partnership between the Esports World Cup and the Esports Awards has also stirred controversy, prompting individuals like PGLs CEO Silviu Stroie to step down from their roles in protest.

Nevertheless, the organizers of the Esports World Cup remain committed to delivering a world-class event, with CEO Ralf Reichert expressing excitement about welcoming Call of Duty athletes and fans to Riyadh.

With the event’s total prize pool exceeding $33 million, it’s poised to be a spectacle of competitive excellence and esports fandom, albeit amidst ongoing discussions about its geopolitical implications.

The 2022 iteration of the Activision-backed tournament World Series of Warzone (WSOW) is currently underway. The Call of Duty competition will have 40 trios play against each other in the Caldera for a total prize pool of USD $600,000. The amount will be split into $300,000 each between the North American and European regions.

The tournament is currently one of the most significant events this year and is the first time the Warzone event is making a return since Verdansk was replaced with Caldera. 20 teams out of the 40 trios qualified via their performances in challenging qualifier games.

The remaining 20 teams gain entry into the tournament via a participation invite by Activision. The invited trios include famous streamers as well as content creators and pro players from the COD League.

The popular Solo-Yolo event will also make a comeback in the tournament. During the event, around 120 gamers will enter Caldera as solos in order to face off against each other for the $100,000 prize money.

Joseph “MerK” DeLuca and Clint “Maven” Evans will reportedly cast the competition, and the gameplay analysis will be laid out by Miles Ross, Ellen “dreamcrazzy” Elizabeth, and James “JGOD” Godoy. All in all, the upcoming WSOW tournament seems to be brimming with exciting events.

The World Series of Warzone NA Finals will kick off on September 7 online at 1pm Pacific Daylight Time. The event will reportedly be broadcast on the official Twitch channel of Call of Duty for the duration of the tournament.

The selected 40 trios will start the tournament by entering private lobbies in Caldera. In order to win the grand prize, they will participate in five-match rounds. The trios will earn points via their kills as well as placements in the matches.

Immediately after the matches, around 120 top talents in the two regions will enter Caldera as solos and play against each other in the Solo-Yolo competition in order to win $100,000.

Aydan “Aydan” Conrad, Rhys “Rated” Price, and Jordan “HusKerrs” Thomas participated in and won last years North American WSOW tournament. The 2021 Solo-Yolo event, on the other hand, saw Seth “Scump” Abner win the cash prize.

The World Series of Warzone NA Finals will be aired on CODs official Twitch channel at different times for the diverse regions:

September 7
1pm Pacific Daylight Time
4pm Eastern Daylight Time
9pm British Summer Time
10pm Central European Standard Time

September 8
12am UAE Standard Time
1.30am Indian Standard Time
5am Japan Standard Time
6am Australian Eastern Standard Time

The official Twitch channel of COD will also stream the World Series of Warzone EU region finals. The event will kick off at 6pm Central European Standard Time on September 6. As a result of the number of impressive players in Warzone, players in the WSOW finals will have to put up their best performances in order to emerge champions in the 2022 event.

Earlier this week, a document allegedly from Activision was leaked, which revealed the release date of the anticipated Call of Duty: Warzone 2. More leaks are seemingly making their way to the fans as popular Warzone streamer Luke “Metaphor” Canning shared some unreleased details about the game’s maps and gameplay.

The previous leak revealed that the game would be globally launched on November 16, just a few weeks from the Call of Duty: Warfare 2 launch date on October 28. Metaphor revealed that the game would feature a new map, and he claimed to have seen it.

The rumored map was shown with every POI and was revealed to the COD community by Tom Henderson, an industry insider. Swimming will reportedly be introduced with the game and be an essential transversal method for players in their new experience.

Metaphor previously played professionally in League of Legends and is a popular name in the Call of Duty community. In a Reddit post, the player claimed he saw the famed new map and had experienced a match against bots.

During his informative session, he reportedly called the new Warzone 2 map “beautiful.” After giving details about the map, Metaphor went in to give replies to some important questions by interested parties.

He said, “I have seen gameplay of Multiplayer/DMZ/ Warzone 2 and can confirm it looks gorgeous visually, the buildings are detailed on the inside better, and the movement is more grounded.”

The streamer was asked about the skill level as well as gameplay of Warzone 2 and explained that he witnessed people battle against bots in the difficulty setting while standard difficulty was used for DMZ.

Metaphor also notably said that the new COD Warzone iteration would have no game sliding feature. The lack of the sliding feature reportedly gave it the feel of Call of Duty 4. The former League of Legends pro further claimed that he saw “3 unconfirmed snipers” in the gameplay, and it was satisfactory.

Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer released a trailer on August 11 that showed a new map, Farm 18. Towards the end of the trailer, fans were able to see a snippet of the new games gunplay, and the AR displayed seemed to have an impressive recoil. However, Metaphor spoke on gunplay and asserted that the high AR recoil in the trailer was entirely a sham.

He said, “The recoil you saw in the trailer they released was fake; thats all I will say.”

The Warzone streamer was also asked how the new map looked and if it had any resemblance to Verdansk. While describing it, Metaphor said the map resembled a combination of Blackout and Caldera.

Activision and Infinity Ward have validated neither the previously leaked information nor Metaphors claims, so fans are not advised to take the news to heart. However, with the speedy approach of Warzones rumored release date, more information will most likely be shared, and the validity of the report will be ascertained.

The post Metaphor cops second CoD Warzone shadow-ban appeared first on Esport Bet.

]]>
On July 17, Call of Duty content creator Luke “Metaphor” Canning shared a clip on his YouTube official channel in which he explained to his viewers how he had been shadow-banned from Warzone for the second time and how upset he was by the experience.

The new anti-cheat software in Warzone called Ricochet is not flawless when it comes to constantly banning troll players and cheaters from the game. On PCs, it’s a kernel-level driver that monitors gaming and background processes for anti-cheating. These metrics help anti-cheat analysts assess if a player is utilizing improper third-party tools.

In this particular incident, Metaphor has been banned from the game more than once due to a needless shadow ban imposed by the anti-cheat system. In this ban, players are not prevented from playing Call of Duty: Warzone; rather, they are sent to separate lobbies that are different from the standard game mode.

A player will find that any lobby they play in after that is packed with other players who have also been identified by the anti-cheat system. Activision assures that all hackers and cheats are playing together with this approach, leaving the regular lobbies that are played by honest gamers to play with themselves.

In recent years, Metaphor has become one of the most well-liked content creators on Twitch. When the streamer first began his profession in 2011, he was playing Call of Duty: Black Ops and posting footage of his gameplay to his channel on YouTube. After that, in 2015, he joined Twitch and began streaming himself playing League of Legends for an extended period of time. In the year 2020, however, Metaphor began broadcasting videos related to CoD in May of 2020, when Warzone was launched. This was the series that brought him his claim to fame.

Activision’s Call of Duty: Battle Royale has never lacked competent and authentic content creators since the game’s initial release in 2020 when Warzone was made available to players. Due to the fact that he masters the keyboard and mouse combination on PCs, Metaphor is revered among the highly followed creators on the internet.

For the past two years, Metaphor has focused all of his attention on his involvement in the game. Following the publication of a large number of gameplay videos on his channel, he has earned a reputation for possessing extraordinary abilities in the game. He has acknowledged earning about 500 kills every day on-stream and occasionally off-stream combined.

But given the latest incident with Activision, it would appear that he is being treated poorly by the developers in reference to the ban. Metaphor has been an essential part of the Warzone community for a considerable amount of time at this point. Since the video was published, the Activision software team has not provided a response to any of this information. Therefore, it is possible that it will be some time before he is unbanned.

In the initial video he posted about the ban, he expressed surprise and dismay at how little assistance he received from the game’s developers in his quest to get unbanned. He said he was stunned by the situation.

A Twitter post by him read: “atleast whenever i get shadow banned I get a free banger on yt, sucks that @Activision has terrible employees and a worthless reporting system though. hopefully they can fix something soon because im not the only one getting shadowed, and im definitely not cheating.?”

Activision Blizzard announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2022 on Monday. Total sales declined from $2.28 billion in the first quarter of 2021 to $1.77 billion, and operating income fell from $795 million to $479 million, according to the report.

?The Activision business division saw the biggest loss, with revenues falling by 49 percent to $453 million from $891 million in the same period last year. Meanwhile, Blizzard’s sales fell by 43% to $274 million from $483 million.

?In terms of player numbers, overall monthly active users fell from 435 million to 372 million compared to the same period in the previous year. MAUs for Activision were down 33% to 100 million, while MAUs for Blizzard were down nearly 19% to 22 million.

?The corporation stated that the quarterly results were lower because Call of Duty: Vanguard and Call of Duty: Warzone both performed below expectations. One of the reasons given is Blizzard’s release schedule, which did not contain significant games.

?

Candy Crush Saga stands tall

?However, not all of the company’s decisions resulted in significant losses. The King division, which is responsible for mobile casual games, limited the damage somewhat with another strong sector.

The company’s quarterly revenues increased by 12% year-on-year to $682 million, and net bookings increased by 8%. Candy Crush Saga, King’s largest franchise, was the top-grossing gaming franchise on US app stores for the 19th quarter in a row.

?What’s next for Activision Blizzard?

?Blizzard’s 43% revenue decline in the first quarter hinged heavily on “product cycle timing for the Warcraft franchise”. Speaking on what could possibly play a huge role in seeing its revenue rise, the brand discussed the release of Warcraft’s first mobile product.

?While Diablo Immortal is pegged for a June 2 release internationally, Warcrafts first mobile product is scheduled to be released in a few weeks. The company also highlighted that there will be a PC version for Diablo Immortals with cross-play to be launched on the same day in beta.

?In the future, Activision Blizzard plans to produce a sequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is described as the “most successful” edition in the franchise to date, as well as a “new free-to-play Warzone experience” that will be released alongside the premium Modern Warfare title.

?In a statement, the company has promised to deliver more compelling content as it expands its Call of Duty resources.

?”Activision continued to rapidly expand its Call of Duty development resources in the first quarter. Its expanding staff are focused on providing the community with ever more appealing content on PC and console, as well as expanding Warzone to the mobile platform,” the company added.

?In regards to the partnership between Activision Blizzard and Microsoft, the corporation affirmed that everything is going according to plan. The transaction has been approved by both boards of directors and is expected to be finalized by June 30, 2023.
